Who is involved?
The Canadian Ecology Centre
has played a leadership role in the development of the Green Check
Program. This initiative is directly related to the programs delivered
at the Canadian Ecology Centre.
The CEC is known to be a leader in environmental education particularly for its work with schools, colleges and universities. The CEC is perceived to be an independent and respected third party who would bring an unbiased approach to the development of a program that recognizes and evaluates businesses and organizations.
Key stakeholders in the Green Check Program include consumers and the profit and not-for-profit sectors. Consumers,
particularly "younger" conusmers have a desire to become involved
with the reducing consumptive lifestyles through their understanding
and awareness of the many improvements, modifications and changes
being undertaken by these sectors. Students need
information for assistance in making their buying choices of
products and services. They seek practical information and ask
that businesses and organizations play a role in providing this information.
Profit and the non-profit sectors want to become involved in these environmental education programs. These companies and organizations wish to say they are “Making A Difference Environmentally,” the MADE principle. |
