Finding out about “who is doing what” to help the environment can be a confusing experience. Some companies and organizations list all kinds of environmental information within their media profiles and websites while others just provide the bare minimum. Green Check is more than a label. It helps companies and organizations educate, and build confidence with consumers/members about their products and services. The "recognition" is not a certification. It is a reward primarily aimed at bringing education and awareness to people to salute efforts of companies and organizations. Green Check also helps students to learn how to Make A Difference Environmentally. Knowing environmental due diligence is occurring is valuable information for selecting products and services. Green Check makes choices easier by helping you to quickly identify products/services that are helping the environment (and there are many ways to help the environment). It is much like the Health Check food program - www.healthcheck.org . At the center of the program is the Green Check symbol and the Canadian Ecology Centre's name. Every company or organization involved in the program has in addition to the Green Check symbol, an explanatory overview of what is being done to help the environment (and a plan for the future). The Green Check symbol on the package or promotional literature means that the product/service’s environmental information and capabilities has been reviewed by the Green Check program. Some products and services adhere to specific guidelines or polices. Some products and services adhere to new and creative solutions. Choosing Green Check products/services will help contribute to a better environment, less emissions and a lesser “footprint.” Check for Green Check! We need to recognize more people for helping the environment. Incrementally, changes can Make A Difference Environmentally (the MADE principle).
